“It’s Never Been Like That” is Phoenix’s third album, a departure from a poppyer/dancyer second record, the third album is more guitar driven. Phoenix are french, I couldn’t tell that from the lyrics or the vocals, but french bands always have that particular bass and drum sound that I really enjoy.

I went back to it a few days ago, every now and then one of the songs from this record pops up in my iPod and I always think “must put that in a podcast”. Last week I chose “Sometimes in a fall” to open a new podcast.

The record was released in 2006, but if you looking for something to listen in a hot summer afternoon (where are those by the way?) while going to the beach, this might be a good soundtrack for that.
