I'm sure it's 60% habit to a tool, 20% likely an outdated GIMP, and 20% not being able to exploit GIMP's richly extensible feature set.

On previous versions, GIMP is more than an excellent replacement for Photoshop if you only do digital work.

It seems the latest versions seems to close the gap on some colour definitions that lacked (like CYMK) but I'm no expert there.

If your problem is plugins... at least on Windows it is possible for GIMP to use Photoshop plugins, so it's not even a fair comparison :)</description>
